Socialism...You're Soaking in it/China Has Already Invaded Us

In the United States Socialism is a dirty word. It is spit out like a rancid piece of food at the mention of any social programs or agendas to help the needy. In this country, it is the worse accusation Conservatives can throw at something they do not approve of.
Why is that?
Let’s define Socialism in the simplest of terms: A program that is paid for using tax dollars. Okay, as the conservatives would point out, welfare and food stamps are Socialism. Forgiving student loan debt would also be Socialism…
And our infrastructure, including roads. Socialism is required to have a smooth highway to drive one’s oversized truck along.
Police departments? Yep, socialism. The military? One of the biggest socialist programs, comrade.
Schools, libraries, fire departments…it’s a long list.
In other words: Socialism…you’re soaking in it.
“I do not want to pay for all these Socialist programs!”
This country is obsessed with money, how much things cost, especially fuel for vehicles. People will vote for the most cretinous MAGA individual if they promise to lower taxes and the cost of fuel.
“Yeah, she likes to stomp puppies in garbage bags but she promised to get lower priced gas!”
The United States, the country I was born in and have lived my entire life in, is a young nation, not even 250 years old. This country is like a spoiled juvenile, full of potential but not maturity. One problem I have is that MAGA stands for Make America Great Again. It’s a noble possibly subjective slogan—and also in contridiction to their alledged values. They don’t want Obamacare, they don’t want to forgive student debt—how are we supposed to compete with the rest of the world, to be “great,” if all of us are not healthy and well educated?
“People are lazy, they need to work their way through school!”
Possibly, but shouldn’t we help those who work so hard to better not just themselves but this country?
Give them a free ride through school but if they don’t graduate then require they pay for their education.
The problem is that it is easy to be capricious when you are healthy and strong. I do not believe they are aware there will a time when they break down, when they develop cancer or just grow old and worn out—
A time when they will require surgeries and medicine—
And then the bill for their short term thinking comes due.
And then it is too late.
In my life, this country has shifted so far to the right.
“All Red Joe needs a mustache like Stalin, most radical left president ever!”
Yeah? If you really look at what he’s done, Biden is no further left than Nixon. You know, the Nixon that wanted to have a basic income for the poor and opened relations with China.
One of the biggest forms of Socialism is the military—
“Hey, hold on, Commie, if we don’t keep up with China they’re gonna—“
Gonna…what, exactly? Invade us? They’re going to invest vast amounts of resources to occupy this country of 350 million people both militarily and bureaucratically?
Guess what, the invasion is over, China is here. Look around where you live and count the tags that say “Made in China.” All that “cheap” shit you buy at Wal Mart? Made in China. I have no idea how much money we pump into China’s economy but I imagine there are a lot of zeroes. We live in a global economy—
“Niave Libtard! They’re conducting military exercises as we speak!”
I’m going to throw something crazy out there: Let’s theorize there is a large corporate entity that builds weapons, let’s call them the Military Industrial Complex (MIC for shot). Can you imagine how much money they make off all the fun boom boom shit China has and all the “first world” countries have? Can you imagine how much money they made on the War on Terror(R)? Wow…you could buy a whole lot of lobbyists with that money, I bet.
I would go so far as to say you could buy a whole lot of media outlets.
Can you imagine how much they are making off the war in Ukraine?
I do not believe we will ever go to war with China, it is not in either countries best interests. Russia is another manner, something is wrong with Putin, but that’s a discussion for another day.
The United States has a lot of potential, but we have lost our way, the Progressives and the Conservatives. We no longer see each other as human beings who, for the most part, have the same desires and needs, fears and anxieties. I will never cut off the friends I have who voted for Trump, sorry. I will never cut off the friends I have who voted for Biden, not going to happen. I sometimes feel a loathing for people who follow the MAGA path, but like Progressives they know something is wrong with this country and are looking for a solution. The problem, however, is not Socialism. Helping someone get an education or hernia surgery (thanks Obama!) is not a bad thing. And Socialism covers a lot of things us United States people hold near and dear like roads and schools. Remember that.
